Our Fallen Comrades”

A POEM BY AL VISTE
I Company 506 PIR WW
II

This poem/toast was read by Al at the 63rd annual reunion of the 101st Airborne Division in Reno, Nevada, August 15, 2008.

They lived for our Country and its way of life.

They died in another country, full of strife.

They lived for their family and friend.

They died for strangers whose country they defend.

They lived for a cause they believed in.

They died to assure that their cause would win.

They lived to preserve freedom and honor.

They died to protect their comrades from danger.

Now a silent prayer for those that had to leave us.

So that we could live our lives in peace and with justice.

Then raise your glasses proudly and high.

To honor those Troopers who had to die.

TO OUR FALLEN COMRADES!!
